PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle detection device capable of detecting an obstacle behind a vehicle even at environment of low illuminance without separately requiring a sensor other than a photographing device. PSOLUTION: The obstacle detection device 20 detects the obstacle from an image of the rear side of the vehicle at retreating of the vehicle, and includes: a difference image production part 23 for producing the difference image of the image photographed at lighting of a brake lamp of the vehicle and the image photographed at putting out of lighting of the brake lamp of the vehicle; and an obstacle determination part 26 for determining existence of the obstacle based on a position in the image where the difference is generated on the difference image obtained in the difference image production part 23.
