PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discharging sediment in a gate groove, which enables the sediment accumulated in the gate groove of a waterway to be surely discharged without use of an expensive device.;SOLUTION: When a sediment-discharging gate 6 is opened, water W2 flowing through a waterway 5 for discharging the sediment is partially guided into the gate groove 10 via a water-conveyance passage 11 formed on at least either the upstream side or downstream side of the gate groove 10.
