PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a continuous heat treatment furnace with which a material to be heat-treated having stable quality is obtained with the suitable heating capacity, soaking capacity and cooling capacity.;SOLUTION: The method for designing a continuous heat treatment furnace includes the first to the forth steps as follows. In the first step, according to the structures of a soaking zone and a cooling device 1, a distance L between the finish position E of the soaking zone and a cooling starting position S in the cooling zone, is determined. In the second step, conveying speed V for the material to be heat-treated, satisfying V≥the distance L×a temperature lowering constant ΔTa of the material to be heat-treated between the finishing position of the soaking zone and the starting position of the cooling/the temperature difference ΔT1 between the soaking temperature T1 and the cooling starting temperature lowest value T2, is determined. In the third step, the length Lh1 of the soaking zone satisfying Lh1≥V×soaking time t, is determined. In the forth step, the length Lh2 of the heating zone satisfying Lh2≥(temperature raising degree ΔT2 needed to raise the temperature of the material to be heat-treated to the soaking temperature in the heating zone/temperature-raising constant ΔTb of the material to be heat-treated in the heating zone)×V, is determined.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
