PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce labor or cost required for composting garbage and to spread composting of the garbage in society. PSOLUTION: In a garbage composting container 1 in which garbage housing chamber 7 housing the garbage and a fermentation base materials inside is formed and the garbage is fermented and composted in the garbage housing chamber 7, a vent 19 communicating with the garbage housing chamber 7 is provided and a plurality of porous bodies 13, 14 are interposed between the vent 7 and the garbage housing chamber 7 with a certain interval. Further, in the method for composting the garbage for manufacturing the compost from the garbage, the garbage is fermented for a predetermined period using the garbage composting container 1 in a place where the garbage is produced and after that, the garbage after fermentation treatment is recovered and then, after a foreign substance is removed from the recovered garbage after the fermentation treatment, the garbage is fully ripened to manufacture the compost.
