PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a clinch apex or a bead apex, which can improve mechanical strength and rolling resistance characteristics in good balance while maintaining fine scorch time is maintained, and to provide a pneumatic tire having the clinch apex or bead apex produced by using the same. PSOLUTION: The rubber composition for a clinch apex or a bead apex contains 1-5 pts.mass of a specific condensate of an alkyl phenol and sulfur chloride for 100 pts.mass of a rubber component containing a butadiene rubber modified with a specific compound having silicate and an amino group.
