PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for stably detecting a ternary barcode capable of recording a large amount of information at a high speed and at a long distance.;SOLUTION: A detection method for the ternary barcode includes: generating an average signal S4 based on a detection signal S1 when the ternary barcode 2 is scanned with a scanning light beam; generating a differential signal S6 corresponding to the average signal S4; generating a first bar signal S5 corresponding to a first bar 2a by comparing the average signal S4 to a first threshold value; generating a mixed signal S9 corresponding to the first bar 2a and a second bar 2b by comparing the differential signal S6 to second and third threshold values; generating a delayed mixed signal S10 by delaying the mixed signal S9; and generating a second bar signal S12 corresponding to the second bar 2b based on the first bar signal S5 and the delayed mixed signal S10, wherein a delay time ΔT of the delayed mixed signal S10 corresponding to the mixed signal S9 is set to a fixed value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
