PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a lithium-exchanged clay capable of yielding a clay film wherein water resistance and moisture resistance can be improved without deteriorating characteristics inherent in the clay, and the clay film.;SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the lithium-exchanged clay comprises: preparing a dispersion of a clay used as a starting material; and conducting an ion exchange treatment using a column filled with a lithium ion type cation exchange resin so as to exchange cations present between the layers to lithium ions. The clay used as the starting material comprises: unit layers each consisting of a 2:1 layered structure wherein an octahedral layer consisting of a metal oxide hydroxide layer is interposed between tetrahedral layers comprising a network of silicic acid; and cations contained between the unit layers. The clay film is also provided. The method for manufacturing the sodium-free, lithium-exchanged clay wherein water resistance and moisture resistance are improved and the clay film molded therefrom can be provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
