PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means for preventing and treating alopecia, deciding the risk of alopecia, and deciding the medicament responsiveness for treating and/or preventing alopecia, through elucidating the relationship between alopecia and epigenetic change in relevant genes. PSOLUTION: A method for detecting the methylation degrees of the methylated regions in a bone morphogenetic protein receptor gene, ephrin receptor gene and Wnt gene in a biological specimen is provided. A method for deciding the methylation degrees of the methylated regions in a bone morphogenetic protein receptor gene, ephrin receptor gene and Wnt gene in a biological specimen of a subject to predict the onset risk of alopecia of the subject or decide the responsiveness to a bone morphogenetic protein promoter, ephrin promoter and Wnt promoter for the subject, is also provided.
