PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for highly precisely engraving a glass substrate of a flat panel display such as a plasma display panel and to provide an FPD production method capable of producing FPDs at a low cost with good productivity.;SOLUTION: There is provided the method for engraving a glass substrate by irradiating it with laser, wherein when the substrate is engraved with a figure composed of an integrally combined straight and curved lines, the substrate is engraved by continuous irradiation with laser.
