PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a silicon carbide honeycomb structure which has thermal conductivity nearly equal to a case when original starting raw materials are used, and has characteristics of strength and porosity or the like, and in which the yield is improved and whose cost is reduced, and the silicon carbide honeycomb structure. PSOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the honeycomb structure, in which recycled raw material recycled from a recovered material produced in the manufacturing process of the silicon carbide honeycomb structure and originating from the starting raw material of the honeycomb structure is used as a part of the starting raw material, recycled raw material is recovered from a material constituting the silicon carbide honeycomb structure in a process after the starting raw material is fired. Then, after the average particle diameter of the recycled raw material is controlled to 5-100 m, the recycled raw material is added as a part of the starting raw material so that a ratio occupied in all starting raw material is 50 mass%, and the resultant recycled raw material is used to manufacture the silicon carbide honeycomb structure.
