Use of flavonoid compounds for the prevention and treatment of ischemic or inflammatory heart disease and cardiovascular disease

The present invention relates to the use of flavonoid compounds, particularly quercetin-3-O--D-glucuronide and kaempferol-3-O--D-glucuronide and their glucosides, for preventing diseases of the heart. Red vine leaf extract has proved a particularly advantageous source of the flavonoid compounds in question.
