PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bactericidal composition exhibiting stable bactericidal action on a wide variety of bacterial strains at a small amount of an active agent and free from remarkable lowering of the bactericidal power even in white water of a papermaking plant.;SOLUTION: The bactericidal composition contains o-phthalaldehyde, bromoacetic acid esters and further 2,2-dibromo-2-nitroethanol or 5-chloro-2,4,6- trifluoroisophthalonitrile at specific ratios.
