PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive metal coating on a porous filler material. PSOLUTION: A method for producing a metal-coated filler includes the steps of: obtaining a supporting mixture by mixing a solution of an organic diol with a plurality of porous filler particles; forming a reaction mixture by bringing a metal-salt solution into contact with the supporting mixture; and heating the reaction mixture to a temperature within the temperature range of 50-200C. Metal cations in the metal-salt solution are reduced to metal particles by the organic diol and arranged on the porous filler particles and pore surfaces of the filler particles. Then, the metal-coated filler may be isolated. Electrically conductive and/or thermally conductive articles including the metal-coated filler and methods for producing the same are also disclosed.
