PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a device and a method for detecting entry to and escape from a parking lot" capable of accurately determining entry to and escape from a parking lot.;SOLUTION: A traveling distance in plane and height directions is calculated at prescribed timing and an incline is calculated by the traveling distance. When the absolute value of the incline becomes larger than a set value, it is determined that a vehicle has entered the parking lot. A prescribed altitude range including a relative altitude of the vehicle when the entry to the parking lot has been detected within a range is set. When the position of the own vehicle is within and outside the altitude range, the set distance used for determining escape is reduced and increased, respectively, and traveling distance side by side with a road is calculated.
