PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic apparatus attached with a controlling device, for performing a polymerase chain reaction in at least one sample tube housing a prescribed amount of a liquid sample mixture. PSOLUTION: The automatic apparatus attached with the controlling device, for performing the polymerase chain reaction in at least one sample tube housing a prescribed amount of the liquid sample mixture includes (a) a sample block equipped with at least one well for at least one prescribed sample tube, (b) a computer equipped with a means for deciding the temperature of the prescribed liquid sample mixture as a function of the prescribed sample block temperatures over a prescribed time, (c) a heating and cooling means controlled by the prescribed computer for changing the temperature of the prescribed sample block, and (d) a block temperature sensor linked with the prescribed sample block thermally and sending the temperatures of the prescribed sample block over the prescribed time to the prescribed computer.
