PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for retaining the motor ability of skin chromatophore of fresh marine cephalopoda, relating to a color development mechanism of the skin of the fresh marine cephalopoda and its control, making clear the possibility of performing using the chromatophore activity of the skin and ATP as a high energy compound, i.e., suppressing decrease of energy level occurring under an anaerobic condition after death through temporarily suppressing motor ability, and retaining the cellular activity of a dead individual for a long period, and making clear the possibility of control of color development so as to find out the most suitable conditions therefor.;SOLUTION: This method for retaining the motor ability of the skin chromatophore of the fresh marine cephalopoda includes maintaining fresh marine cephalopoda through soaking or floating it in a solution whose Ca concentration is 0 mM-0.5 mM.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
