PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive solving problems occurred on combustion of an engine fuel for an internal combustion engine.;SOLUTION: A colloidal dispersion used in the fuel additive for the internal combustion engine contains an organic phase, an iron compound particles being an amorphous form and at least one of an amphipathic substance. The dispersion is prepared by that an iron salt and a base or an iron complex and a base are reacted while keeping a pH of a reaction medium at least 8 and precipitation is given by carrying out the reaction (the iron complexing agent is selected from water-soluble carboxylic acids having a complexation constant K from which pK is set to at least 3, and the iron complex is chosen from reaction products of the iron salts and the acids), then, by bringing a precipitate obtained or a suspension containing the precipitate into contact with the organic phase under the presence of an amphiphatic material and by a method for getting dispersion in an organic phase.
