PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for regulating sound radiation of a pipe body and a method of regulating sound radiation of the pipe body, easy to regulate balance between radiant efficiency and vibration displacement and thereby easy to regulate to a desired sound radiation condition, and to provide a device for supporting setting of a division number of a pipe body peripheral face, supporting setting of a proper configuration selection to them.;SOLUTION: A degree of rigidity of the pipe body is set based on a relationship of a distance between irregularities in the radial direction of a PCCP (Pseudo-Cylindrical Concave Polyhedral Shell) shaped polyhedron 8 to a pipe wall thickness t. According to the relationship, the balance regulation between the radiant efficiency and the vibration displacement for regulation of a sound radiation level is facilitated, and a sound radiation condition can be set with a high versatility. Therefore, with such a method of regulating sound radiation of the pipe body and a structure for regulating sound radiation of the pipe body, the sound radiation condition of the pipe body is easily regulated to a desired condition. In the polyhedron 8 of a muffler 2, as reduction of the sound radiation is facilitated by setting a relationship [02t], exhaust noise can be reduced effectively. With the device for supporting setting of the division number of the pipe body peripheral face, which calculates the configuration of the PCCP using the relationship, configuration selection for a desired sound radiation condition also becomes easy.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
