PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot device which can reduce errors in verification when performing face verification, at a place where lighting variations are large, such as in a house and in a place where a lighting environment exits that is particularly bad for verification. PSOLUTION: The robot device has a lighting environment condition monitoring means for detecting a lighting environment condition and a determining means for determining whether the lighting environment condition is suitable for verification. The determining means determines whether the lighting environment condition is suitable for verification by referring to an verification performance recording means, in which the feasibility of verification for lighting environment conditions is recorded. The robot device is configured so that it does not verify by a face detection verification means, if it is determined that the lighting environment condition is not suitable for verification.
