Cooling system (100) comprises a cooling circuit (200), a Rankine circuit (300), a control device (500), a pre-determined status-scanning device, and a flow-determining device. The control device operates a compressor (210) in the cooling circuit when the pre-determined state is scanned by the status-scanning device. The control device reduces the speed of the Rankine circuit from the pre-determined normal speed during operation of the compressor in the pre-determined state when the flow-determining device determines that the coolant flow exceeds the pre-determined flow rate. Preferred Features: The control device operates the compressor for a pre-defined time period and the compressor then stops when the pre-determined status-scanning device scans the state.
