A method for analysing the power consumption in machines, wherein one method step involves a multiplicity of data items being recorded which are characteristic of a plurality of sub-procedures in an operating procedure and also a multiplicity of data items being recorded which are characteristic of a power consumption for the machine. Another step involves the data items for the sub-procedures of the machine and the data items which are characteristic of the power consumption of the machine being stored in a memory device (10). Finally, the power consumption is ascertained from the data items recorded in a memory device (10) and the power consumption is displayed, the power consumption for at least two sub-procedures being able to be shown separately.
