PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bucket type sludge volume reduction machine where volume reduction efficiency can be improved, and to provide a bucket lifting device which facilitates the discharge of sludge in a bucket. PSOLUTION: The bucket type sludge volume reduction machine (1) is used for drying sludge (W) stored in a bucket (4). The sludge volume reduction machine (1) comprises: a bucket (4); a duct (6) connected to the bucket (4) so as to form an air circulation path together with the bucket (4); a feeder (8) circulating air in the air circulation path; a heat pump apparatus (10) drying the air in the duct (6) fed to the bucket (4) by the blower (8); and a space (12) in a housing (2) storing the heat pump apparatus (10). A fan (62) is provided for cooling a cooling medium between a condensation part (54) and an expansion part (56).
