PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide more detailed traffic congestion information to a driver when the driver becomes entangled in a traffic congestion, by collecting the vehicle information from the other vehicles lying in the same traffic congestion. PSOLUTION: The navigation device guides the traffic congestion information on the vehicles lining up on the same lane. The navigation device detects existence of a communication start command. When there is the communication start command, the navigation device calculates an average speed per hour within a predetermined time based on the speed stored in a storage means for travel history, and controls a guide output means based on the calculation result. In this case, when the calculated average speed is lower than a predetermined speed, the navigation device determines that the forward part of a vehicle concerned is crowded, makes an external device of the other forward vehicle output a congestion information transmitting command signal, and controls the guide output means based on the congestion information input from the external device of the other forward vehicle.
