PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-field waveguide of very small size exceeding diffraction limits of light.;SOLUTION: The near-field waveguide has a near-field wave guiding section where quantum dots whose energy levels are quantized, a pair of electrodes provided outside both ends of the near-field wave guiding section, a near-field excitation section which introduces a near field in quantum dots at one end of the near-field wave guiding section, and a near-field output section which outputs a near field from quantum dots at the other end of the near-field wave guiding section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
