PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for efficiently detecting an error in an one hot word in which only a single bit is set in a state free from any error. ;SOLUTION: This device is provided with plural input signal lines, plural switching elements, plural intermediate signal lines, and a logic circuit. The switching elements are connected to the input signal lines. The intermediate signal lines are also connected to the switching elements. When the specific input signal lines are set, all the intermediate signal lines connected to the specific input signal lines are forced so as to be turned into a prescribed logical state by the switching elements in these connections. The intermediate signal lines are set as inputs to the logic circuit, and the logic circuit outputs a signal indicating whether or not at least two of the plural input signal lines are set.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
