PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new 4-methylene-1,3-dioxolane satisfying the following requirements (i) releasing neither acetaldehyde nor propionaldehyde during crosslinking, (ii) promptly obtainable by an industrially easy operation, (iii) producible in an industrial amount from an obtainable low-cost basic fundamental substance, (iv) using neither an expensive noble metal catalyst nor a catalytic system having difficulty in regeneration, (v) having higher activity than that of commercial vinyl ether and (vi) having substantially no pollution of smell due to low vapor pressure.;SOLUTION: This 4-methylene-1,3-dioxolane is represented by general formula I (R1 is a methyl group; X is CH2; Z is OH group: example 1).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
