PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthesis catalyst of calcium carbonate and a synthetic method of calcium carbonate using the catalyst.;SOLUTION: This Zn complex-containing layered polymer comprises a tetrahedron sheet where a plurality of tetrahedra having a silicon atom as the central atom are arranged and an octahedron sheet where a plurality of octahedra having a metal atom as the central atom are arranged, and the tetrahedron sheet is linked to the octahedron sheet through oxygen atoms. The layered polymer has a composition expressed by general formula (1): (R¹_nSiO_(4-n)/2)_xM_2/ZO(H₂O)_w, where R¹s each independently represent a monovalent organic group; n denotes an integer of 1-3; x is a number of 0.5-2; Ms each independently represent a metal atom or an ion thereof; Z denotes 2 or 3; w denotes a number of 0-2; provided that at least a part of R¹ is a complex-forming organic group having a nitrogen-containing functional group capable of forming a complex with a Zn ion, where at least a part of the complex-forming organic group forms a complex with the Zn ion.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
