PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zinc sulfide nanocables which are each coated with a silicon carbide film and are suitably utilized to a nano-electronic device or a nano-light-emitting device for high temperature, high electric power or high frequency, and to provided a method for producing the same.;SOLUTION: Zinc sulfide nanowires are formed by charging a mixed powder of a zinc oxide powder and a silicon monoxide powder in a crucible, then heating the mixed powder in an inert gas stream to sublimate zinc sulfide, and supplying the sublimated zinc sulfide onto the surface of graphite covered with a heat insulating carbon fiber, kept at a prescribed temperature. Thereafter, the surface of each zinc sulfide nanowire is coated with the silicon carbide film by switching the inert gas to methane gas, successively heating the methane gas or the like to form graphite-like carbon by the decomposition of the methane gas and to form silicon by the disproportionation reaction of silicon monoxide, and reacting those on the surfaces of the zinc sulfide nanowires.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
