High-speed shear that divides a rolled steel sheet in the width direction

The high speed shear for cross-cutting particularly thin rolled strip has at least one blade (7) on one of two opposing drums (1,2) with a cutting edge (8) accelerated to the strip advance fed speed. The drums have a separate controllable device for adjustment into a cutting position or an open through-run position. The drums both in the open and cutting positions are rotatively synchronized in engagement with each other by teeth formed on them. The teeth are so formed that with large flank clearance in the opened position of the drums the synchronization is just still guaranteed, whereas in the cutting position a tooth engagement occurs with practically no flank clearance of the teeth.
