PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a coating liquid for coating the core material of an electrophotographic carrier, without causing carrier deposition in a solid image portion due to the deterioration of resistance with time, and without causing toner contamination (texture fogging) in a non-image portion. PSOLUTION: The method for preparing a coating liquid for coating a core material of an electrophotographic carrier includes a main dispersion process of dispersing a solution containing, at least a binder resin and solid particles by using beads having a bead diameter of not more than 5 mm. A dispersion machine, having a classifying mechanism for separating the beads in a dispersion chamber is used as a dispersion machine in the main dispersion process, and the feeding method of the dispersion liquid employs a pass system.
