PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a check node updating method in a low-density parity decoder by which performance deterioration is reduced in comparison with the case that existent BP algorithm is used.;SOLUTION: The method includes steps for a lot of check nodes to: receive LLR (Log-Likelihood Ratio) messages from each of variable nodes; constitute each of the LLR message serial to each of the check node; and update the check node via a function including a g'(x) function approximated by the sum of index functions on the basis of the LLR message.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
