PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of working, by which a blade member provided with the edge of a blade which is sharp even in a microscopic level, whose tip part has no ruggedness and which has sufficient hardness and durability, can be attained. PSOLUTION: In this method of working the edge of the blade, burrs on the edge of the blade which are formed by cutting work are removed by irradiating the burrs with an ultrashort pulse laser. Preferably, the pulse width of the ultrashort pulse laser is 200 femtosecond to 3 picosecond. Preferably, the fluence of the ultrashort pulse laser is 1.0-2.0 J/cmSP2/SP.
