PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a part program generating device and a program for an image measuring device which do not require setting of an edge detection tool by manual operation, respectively, and quickly generate a part program when a work with a plurality of specific shapes is measured. PSOLUTION: The part program generating device comprises: a CAD data capturing part 56 for capturing CAD data; a CRT 25 for displaying the captured CAD data; an extraction area specifying part 58 for selecting an arbitrary area in the CAD data displayed by a display means, and for extracting the selected CAD data; a CAD data specifying part 59 for specifying tip positions of the plurality of works and central axes of the plurality of works based on the extracted CAD data; a measurement condition setting part 60 for specifying a measurement condition for at least one of specified characteristic images; and a part program generating part 55 for assigning the specified measurement condition to the all characteristic images, and for generating the part program.
