PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-opening square bag which has no pasted portion which is a weakness in strength and which can be folded, and an intermediate product thereof. SOLUTION: A paste is applied to a region of a rectangular sheet of paper 4A to be filled with cushioning materials, fragmented cushioning materials 5 are shaken to be attached, and a paste is applied to an area corresponding to a region where the cushioning materials are not attached, thereby preparing a material of the self-opening square bag filled with the cushioning materials in a predetermined region between two sheets and also providing a crease for folding. Slits 11, 12, 13 and 14 are made on a part to be a bottom of the square bag to provide two narrow flaps 15 and 16 and two wide flaps 17. Both ends are glued to each other to form a cylinder, which is folded to form gussets, providing the intermediate product 2 of the self-opening square bag with gussets. The flaps on the bottom are folded and unified to make the square bag.
