PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of image data obtained by picking up an optical image projected on a photo-detection plane in an imaging system. PSOLUTION: As for a point image P1 projected from any position through an imaging lens 10 onto a photo-detection plane 21, an imaging system is also prepared which is constituted of the imaging lens 10 and an imaging device 20 configured in such a way that a maximum diameter of an effective area of a point image P1 is sized over three or more pixels of photo-detecting pixels. A signal processing unit 40 applies restoration processing to first image data output from the imaging device 20 in such a way as to produce second image data, equal to the first image data, which are output from the imaging device 20 when a resolution of the imaging lens 10 is high. The imaging lens includes, in order from an object side, a first lens group constituted of at least one lens and having positive power and a second lens group constituted of at least one lens and having positive power.
