PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relieving grinding wheel capable of avoiding the occurrence of tooth form errors to a cut gear by regrinding a pinion type cutter.;SOLUTION: An axially perpendicular tooth form outline shape of an internal gear is given as a sequence of discrete points, and the given sequence of axially perpendicular section tooth form outline points of the internal gear is interpolated by the Akima method to specify the axially perpendicular section tooth form outline of the internal gear. The axially perpendicular section tooth form outline is specified by an expression for coordinate transformation into a fixed coordinate system that rotates fixed to the pinion type cutter. An envelope of a group of curves represented by this expression is determined, and the envelope is projected on a rake face cone of the pinion type cutter to determine a cutting edge shape outline of the pinion type cutter. A cutting edge shape outline obtained by changing the center distance between the pinion type cutter and the internal gear is superposed in the axial direction of the pinion type cutter to specify the cutting edge outline of the pinion type cutter.
