PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine total spectral radiance factors from which the effects of fluorescence are removed without having to use a fluorescent reference sample or perform complicated calibration work thereof.;SOLUTION: A reflection spectral radiance factor Rx(λ) from which the effects of fluorescence are removed is determined in the following procedure on the basis of a bispectral luminescent radiance factor F(μ, λ) approximate to a sample; the spectral distributions I1(λ) and I2(λ) of illumination lights I1 and I2 having different spectral distributions; and the observed total spectral radiance factors Bx1(λ) and Bx2(λ) of the sample separately illuminated by I1 and I2. 1: Theoretical fluorescent spectral radiance factors F1(λ)=∫F(μ, λ)×I1(μ)dμ/I1(λ) and F2(λ)=∫F(μ, λ)×I2(μ)dμ/I2(λ) are computed on the basis of F(μ, λ) and I1(λ) and I2(λ). 2: Rx(λ) is computed on the basis of the following simultaneous equations that Bx1(λ)=Rx(λ)+F1(λ)×K(λ) and that Bx2(λ)=Rx(λ)+F2(λ)×K(λ) in which Bx1(λ) and Bx2(λ) are the sum of Rx(λ), F1(λ)×K(λ), and F2(λ)×K(λ).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
