PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a maleated butyl rubber as a raw material for producing a modified butyl rubber that imparts to the resultant modified butyl rubber improved processability without impairing the physical properties.;SOLUTION: The process for producing the maleated butyl rubber comprises reacting a halogenated butyl rubber with a maleic anhydride in the presence of (i) an acid acceptor and (ii) a monofunctional hindered amine and/or a monofunctional hindered phenol.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
