SOLUTION: A device has a document read unit 10 equipped with a document table 11, a document platen unit 2 which presses a document 7 mounted on the document table 11, a hinge part 3 which rotatably supports one end part of the document platen unit 2 and has a slide shaft 6, and a hinge receiving part 9 which is constituted integrally with the document platen unit 2 and supports the slide shaft 6 of the hinge part 3 slidably in the vertical direction; and two projection parts 5a which vertically face each other having a specific distance are provided on the internal wall of a cylinder part 5 of the hinge receiving part 9 and the upper projection part 5a between the two projection parts 5a is provided closely to the free end part 2a of the document platen unit 2.
