PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preventing and treating agent for hypertension capable of improving hypertension, useful as a medicine for preventing and treating hypertension, and further useful as a health food widely usable as a food material. SOLUTION: (a) A compound selected from a group consisting of coffeic acid, chlorogenic acid and ferulic acid, and pharmaceutically permissible salts of the compounds, and (b)a preventing and treating agent for hypertension containing a central nerve-stimulating component.
