PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleeve for a tension reel capable of preventing wavy edges apt to occur in a steel strip on the inner circumferential side of a coil by setting the thickness of the sleeve for the tension reel so that the circumferential compressive stress exerted on the steel strip on the inner circumferential side of the coil does not exceed the yield stress of the steel strip.;SOLUTION: The circumferential compressive stress in a center portion of the width of a steel strip on the innermost circumference of a coil 3 caused by the shrink-deformation of a sleeve is calculated based on the outside diameter of the coil, the inside diameter of the sleeve, the winding tension, the Young's modulus of the sleeve 2 and the Young's modulus of the steel strip, and the circumferential compressive stress in a surface layer on the sleeve side of the steel strip on the innermost circumference of the coil caused by the bending deformation is calculated based on the outside diameter of the sleeve, the thickness of the steel strip, and the Young's modulus of the steel strip. The thickness of the sleeve for the tension reel is set so that the total of the circumferential compressive stresses in the surface layer on the sleeve side at the center portion of the width of the steel strip on the innermost circumference of the coil is smaller than the yield stress of the steel strip to be wound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
