PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single crystal diamond cutting tool excellent in chip discharge property with a longer service lifetime capable of improving the accuracy of a face to be machined by realizing the reduction of cutting resistance, and also, capable of preventing the occurrence of wear and micro-chipping of a cutting blade when a crystal material and a hard/fragile material are subjected to ultra-precision cutting.;SOLUTION: A tip having a round-shaped cutting blade ridge is provided to the front end. A part at least acting as a cutting blade in the cutting blade ridge has a fixed round formed by the crossing of a first conical face as a rake face with a second conical face as a flank. The roundness of the cutting blade ridge has a radius of 100 nm. The width of the first conical face is 1-5 μm. A chip releasing face approximately vertical to the cutting direction is provided to the part on the side opposite to the cutting blade ridge line of the first conical face. A crossing part of the first conical face with the chip releasing face is made into a round face. Its radius is set to 0.1-1.0 μm. The rake angle of the first conical face is a negative angle.
