PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely determine existence of the water penetration or the degree of occurrence of the water penetration into an optical fiber cable.;SOLUTION: The method to determine the existence of water intrusion into the optical fiber cable such as an OPGW is as follows: the process for making the light of 1.24 μm wavelength band entering the optical fiber cable for measuring the transmission loss is repeated for a plurality of times while changing the time, then the existence of water penetration or the degree of intrusion is determined based on the measured values of the plurality oftimes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
