PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce an ambroxan intermediate by using sclareol as a substrate. PSOLUTION: A plurality of new microorganisms not classified in conventional well-known microorganisms, and having objective characteristics is isolated and identified as a result of earnest examination for isolation and identification of the microorganisms having the objective characteristics. The new microorganisms belong to the genus Cryptococcus, and have abilities for forming the ambroxan intermediate by using the sclareol as the substrate. The microorganisms having the abilities and belonging to the genus Cryptococcus are new finding, and can be the microorganisms useful for the production of the ambroxan or the intermediate thereof.
