PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan intermediate from sclareol as a substrate. PSOLUTION: A plurality of new microorganisms having objective characteristics and not classified in conventional known microorganisms have been isolated and identified as the result of zealous examinations to isolate and identify microorganisms having objective characteristics. The new microorganisms belong to genus Rhodococcus and have ability to produce the dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan intermediate from the sclareol as the substrate. The microorganisms having the ability and belonging to the genus Rhodococcus are microorganisms useful for producing the dodecahydro-3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan and its intermediate.
