PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating heavy metal-containing waste water which has high removal efficiency of a heavy metal, is made compact and does not require a large quantity of a flocculant.;SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating heavy metal-containing waste water has a reaction tank 1, a neutralization tank 2 and a filter 4 which are arranged in this order and the adjacent ones of which are connected to each other by a flow passage. The reaction tank 1 has a chelating agent adding means 11 by which a chelating agent is added to heavy metal-containing waste water 6 to form a chelate compound 16 from the heavy metal contained in the waste water 6 and the added chelating agent. The neutralization tank 2 has a pH adjusting means 13 by which the chelate compound 16-containing waste water 7 is neutralized. The filter 4 has a flocculant adding means 14 and a filter medium, the flocculant adding means adds an inorganic flocculant to the neutralized waste water 8 to produce a heavy metal-containing insoluble material, and the filter medium filters the waste water 8 containing the heavy metal-containing insoluble material to collect the heavy metal-containing insoluble material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
