PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder resin for an electrostatic charge image developing toner in which the content of a metal catalyst is suppressed, an electrostatic charge image developing toner having high image quality used for the same, and further an electrostatic charge image developer using the electrostatic charge image developing toner, and an image forming method using the electrostatic charge image developing toner or the electrostatic charge image developer. PSOLUTION: The binder resin for the toner obtained by a polycondensation reaction of a polycarboxylic acid and a polyol is characterized in that from 50mol% to 100mol% of the polycarboxylic acid is composed of a specific compound including an aromatic hydrocarbon group or alicyclic hydrocarbon group; from 10mol% to 100mol% of the polyol is composed of a specific compound including a bisphenol S and/or bisphenol Z skeleton; and the metal element derived from the catalyst in the resin is ≤100 ppm.
