The charge control abilities of seven types of phenylated-para-rosanilin (PRA) were evaluated by measuring the amounts of tribo-charge generated between the PRA/resin matrix film and the reference ferrite particles. The measurements were conducted using the cascade method. The results show that : (1) all types of PRA increase the amount of positive charging as the amount of PRA addition to a binder resin increases, (2) the particle size of PRA is a more important factor than the difference of the chemical structure of PRAs to determine the amount of charge, and (3) a soluble type PRA can be regarded as an effective CCA to obtain a larger positive charge with a smaller amount of addition. From the result, the effects of the physicochemical properties of CCA on the film surface on the amount of charge were considered.
