PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique concerning a counter measures against merging noises in a transmission system networked in a tree form, which uses the existing equipment and identifies a noise source.;SOLUTION: For a plurality of terminals, an information providing system includes: a management device for providing predetermined content; a tree-shaped transmission path extending toward the plurality of terminals with the management device being regarded as a base end; and the plurality of terminals being provided on a tip side of the tree-shaped transmission path. From an upstream signal transmitted from the plurality of terminals toward the management device, a received signal-to-noise ratio represented by a ratio of noise to a received signal each terminal receives, and a transmitted signal-to-noise ratio represented by a ratio of noise to a signal arriving at the management device, the signal being originated from a signal transmitted toward the management device by each of the terminals, are acquired as terminal-related information related to each terminal and a noise source is narrowed down based on correlation between the acquired received signal-to-noise ratio and transmitted signal-to-noise ratio.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
