PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing VOC by decomposition and a catalyst for such a removal by decomposition, by which a high VOC (volatile organic compound) decomposition rate can be exerted even in the presence of steam and VOC can be removed by decomposition at a lower cost than those in the cases of using noble-metal-carrying catalysts. PSOLUTION: The use of ceria (CeOSB2/SB) as a catalyst makes it possible to decompose and remove volatile organic compounds in exhaust gas. Even in the presence of steam in exhaust gas, volatile organic compounds can be sufficiently decomposed. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
